Desserts Are The Fairy Tales Of The Kitchen

Desserts are the fairy tales of the kitchen, a happily-ever-after to supper.

Dessert derives its origin from the French word des-servir which means ‘ clear the table’. This implies the last food item served before a meal is ended.

In our country, it is said that “Meethe ka bina khana adhura rehta hai” and its a trend to serve Indian desserts after food. And in my case, I always prefer to make desserts at home rather than buying it from outside, let it be for my family members or for a guest coming at home.

According to Godrej Food Trends Report 2018 Contest,we all appreciate a little sweet treat after a meal and in India, Meetha is a whole other story. The expert’s panel believes that smaller bite-sized portions will be preferred solution to this dichotomy in 2018.

One cannot think well, love well, sleep well if one has not dined well. Desserts are the most crucial part of any meal. Desserts are something sweet which makes the meal complete and always bring a smile to everyone’s face, especially if its made at home by our dear ones. I mostly bake cakes and sometimes give a new twist to Indian desserts, like this time when I make Gajar ka halwa I gave it a twist by using it as an icing on a homemade cake.

I decorate this cake with fruits, freshly grated coconut, and gajar ka halwa and it turns out to be really delicious! I am not saying because I made it, it was the appreciation from my family members for the dish! You too can give a try by giving this twist and I am sure you will love the taste!

When it comes to desserts, I always love making different dishes in a different way! Woh kehte hain na meetha ke bina life adoori hoti hain .

Dessert is to a meal what a dress is to a woman. Here I am sharing some pictures of desserts that I made at home,

1. Rasgolla – Famous as Bengali Rasgolla. I generally make this sweet dish in different colours to surprise my kiddos

2. Coconut Sweet Sandwich – A dish which is made of grated coconut and sugar by adding yellow colour and saffron in it!

3. Fruits Pudding – This pudding is an amalgamation of custard sauce, whipped cream and seasonal fruits

4.Kheeranand – A typical dish of Indian marwari family, this particular dish is made of Sugar, milk and rice by adding colour to it.

5. Revdi Sandwich – I made this dish by frying the bread and putting revdi over it ( Revdi is made by boil the milk for hours and when it get too thick we add sugar in it )

6. Suji Halwa – A simple suji halwa that everyone makes at their home! I just presented it in a different way!

So in this way, I add my touch to the desserts! I always try to make and present the desserts in an innovative way. Making Indian traditional desserts at home ensures proper hygiene and nutritional values so that my kids can also have the taste of it.

William Powell said that Dessert is probably the most important stage of the meal, since it will be the last thing your guests remember before they pass out all over the table, and I think we all will agree to this!
